About Us
Calcota started with a spreadsheet and a bad month. Its editor spent three years carrying a personal loan and two credit cards on a mid-level IT salary in Pune, and like most people in that position he had no clear idea how deep the hole actually was. When he finally sat down and modelled it properly, the number that came back was brutal — and clarifying. Seeing the real interest cost, and the real date he could be free, was the thing that finally changed how he paid. This site is that spreadsheet, cleaned up and handed to anyone who needs it.
We built Calcota specifically for salaried Indian borrowers — the people who already have EMIs, card balances, and no-cost installments running, and who want a straight answer about how to clear them. That focus is deliberate. There are plenty of sites about growing wealth once you have it; there are far fewer that treat getting out of debt as the urgent, practical, deeply personal problem it is. Every tool here is chosen for that mission: to show you the truth about your debt and hand you a plan to end it sooner.
Our promise is simple. We never sell your data, we don't push you toward any lender, and nothing you type is saved or tracked — the calculations run entirely in your browser. When we describe a strategy like the snowball, avalanche, or a balance transfer, we explain the trade-offs plainly, including when it's a bad idea, because a tool that only ever tells you good news isn't a tool worth trusting. We're not affiliated with any bank, NBFC, or credit card issuer.
Our small editorial team reviews the tools and the guidance around them regularly to keep them aligned with how Indian lending actually works. If you spot an error, want a calculator we don't yet offer, or just want to tell us how your payoff is going, write to us at [email protected]. We read everything, and the best tools on this site exist because a reader asked for them.
